We just got back from a camping trip on Hunting Island in South Carolina the low country and it was a wonderful adventure for all of us. We joined some good friends for the week and for my friend this is a family tradition for her and her family and this year they extended an invitation to all of us. So not only were we going to a brand new vacation destination but we had experienced tour guides with us which is an added bonus.
Since my husband and I love camping and we love an opportunity to bring out our Vintage Apache Mesa and we had two teens in tow my son and his close buddy. Camping is also frugal and fun for the whole family!
For some of us the adventure is fishing…
For others its metal detecting…
Hiking on the beaches…
We all enjoyed riding our bikes around the campground and on some of the hilly trails nearby…
My husband and I loved photographing the local wildlife.
Making New Friends and going on New Adventures!
We ended the week with a good ole’ fashioned low country boil which are friends treated us to. If you have never experienced one it is a whole pot of goodness that includes potatoes, sausage, corn on the cob, and seafood that is in season…boy was it yummy!
For my son and his friend they loved surfing, I also enjoyed a little down time just napping and reading some good books but of course there are never enough good surfing days and we had to end our week and pack up.
We also visited the historic Sheldon Church ruins located in Beaufort, South Carolina which I will share more in-depth about in another blog post soon. But just look at this place it is breathtaking…
I hope you enjoyed taking a glimpse at our camping adventures! Happy Easter Sunday everyone!
Fondly,
What was the weather like? I might camp if the weather was nice. 🙂
Bobbi the weather was absolutely beautiful…we had a couple of days what were buggy but we were on the move so much it wasn’t too bad…..and worth it to go see this beautiful island!
Nice! Our family also loves camping, we go every year to Mammoth Lakes California! It’s our thing! Family, frugal, and fun!
Wow that does sound exciting! I bet that is just one big expedition and I bet you find a ton of artifacts!
Looks like you had a lovely weekend. Those ruins look interesting…just my type of adventure. Not quite camping weather in Ireland yet!
Bridget it was great! Hopefully you will have good camping weather in Ireland soon! Thanks for stopping by!
Looks like ya’ll had a great time!
We did Wendy….but like all good things break ended rather too quickly 🙂
I wish I could digg with a huge spoon in that pot of goodness! It looks sooooo good!
It was so yummy! You would have loved it!
Looks fabulous! Thank you for the potential camping destination idea. We are always looking for someplace new to go camping.
Grace glad you think so…If you do decide to go there I think during the spring you have to book about 11 months in advance its very high demand.
I love Low Country Boils…They are a southern staple :o) We plan to do a lot of camping this spring & early summer…& Oh! I love your vintage camper…It is too cute.
Thanks Sherri! I love low country boils too! Thanks for your comment 🙂
