Welcome to our Lil’ Suburban Homestead! Our journey begins here…
Our family is passionate about sustainable living, and living closely with the earth. This affects my family and those I love in many ways. We raise chickens, our beekeepers and my husband The Viking in my life and I try to grow a variety of foods to supplement our diet in our coastal humid area which is challenging at times even though we have a longer growing season. I am fortunate that my husband and my children one of whom is on her own now all embrace this way of living. We hang our clothes out on the line, make homemade laundry detergent, can our own food and we have done this for years and then one day I thought maybe people want to hear my perspective on things and what works for us because I certainly love reading about what others are doing! I will be blogging my thoughts, musings, recipes and so much more and hope you will join me on my journey.
Update (since 2010) as we evolved we have learned how to make homemade wine, cider, we love to have gatherings with family and friends and share our favorite DIY projects as well. A lot has changed in the last 6 years as we are almost in the empty nest but a lot has stayed the same. We embrace simple living and treasuring fun family moments and we are so glad to have connected with all of you!
This is my very first post and I hope you enjoy reading our stories, musings, how to’s and so much more. Our Lil’ Suburban Homestead is a family affair one that means a lot to my husband, my children, and me!
