Lavender and Alice Hoffman
(Practical Magic )
There’s a few things I’ve learned in life: always throw salt over your left shoulder, keep rosemary by your garden gate, plant lavender for good luck, and fall in love whenever you can.
Today something magical happened in my garden. My husband brought me a sprig off of a plant and asked my opinion about what I thought it was I of course immediately leaned in to smell it and my senses were gently seduced by the most alluring scent of lavender. I have been trying to plant lavender with no luck at all for three years and finally a viable plant. Every gardener who has struggled with growing that one plant that they can’t quite make it happens knows the joy I am talking about when it finally happens. Funny that when I finally give up on growing lavender I now have it. Its because I let the resistance go and I didn’t worry about having lavender it finally came to be.
Today I strolled through my garden taking pictures of my haven, my magical place. I took pictures of peppers, hibiscus, dragonflies, I enjoyed some quiet time. Every one should have a garden, a haven of their own where they can leave the stresses of the world behind them. In my garden I always find abundance and joy and now a little bit of lavender too.
