My friend Lisa @ The Way Grandmama does it chose me to give The Liebster Blog Award and the spirit of this blog award is one that I will embrace because it is about bloggers noticing and encouraging other bloggers as you know I have mentioned in a previous post that I am not a huge fan of blog awards but this one is different first of all because it was given to me by a dear friend and second of all I really appreciate the spirit of the Liebster Blog Award. Thanks so much Lisa for thinking of me and my blog…..I know you know how much work we put into them. Actually one of my friend’s I was going to offer a blog award too has a badge on her blog that says “Award Free Blog” and I think her sentiment is more out of I write what I write because I write it but that could be just purely projection on my part.
Shortly after Lisa offered me this award another one of my blogging friends Heidi from “My Simple Country Living” and “White Wolf Summit Farm Girl” offered me the award as well. Lisa is a good friend and Co-worker of mine and we are so like minded on many issues and we just have a blast together and Heidi is a virtual friend of mine through blogging on similar topics and we are truly kindred spirits with regards to homesteading topics. I am so flattered and touched at being thought of and that this is an award that I can pass on to fellow bloggers who are putting their lives out on the internet everyday.
For me blogging is a passion of mine. I have always written often as a child growing up and I would write a couple of pages and tuck them away never doing anything with it. What I love about blogging is that I live my life and then I blog about it not the other way around. To be a blogger is to be brave….we put our lives out there on the net maybe we touch someone’s heart, share an idea, maybe even our readers can relate to what we post but we also put ourselves out there to get made fun of or to have people disagree with our thoughts. For me the risk is worth it as I have made many friends who I otherwise would not have known prior. I think blogging has made me even closer with some of my friends who maybe would not have known what I was thinking in the first place. Sometimes I get sentimental and I may even share more that what I had actually planned and sometimes I play it safe and just write about canning. I do think its important to test the waters…to quote my dear friend Katherine and then if it gets too scary stick to subjects I feel more comfortable about.
The origins of the Liebster Blog award are somewhat unclear but the general consensus is that it originated in Germany, Liebster meaning favorite or dearest, to showcase bloggers with fewer than 200 followers. Upon accepting the award the recipient must then pass it on to five more blogs of note. Here are the rules:1- Choose FIVE up and coming blogs to award the Liebster to. Blogs must have less than 200 followers.2- Show your thanks to the blogger who gave you the award by linking back to them.3- Post the award on your blog. List the bloggers you gave the award to with links to their sites. Here are my choices for the Liebster Blog Award. By the way if you choose not to receive this blog award I won’t take any offense but just know the spirit that is intended with it.
