Merry Christmas Everyone

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays everyone!  Wow it has been such a great couple of days on our lil’ suburban homestead!

Just a reminder that I will not be sharing the From The Farm Blog Hop or The Simple Saturdays blog hop this weekend so I can enjoy time with my family this Friday and Saturday!  It has been a flurry of activity at our place!

 Our daughter came in to town the day before Christmas Eve and we had a fun time and both kids came in to the kitchen while I baked cookies and we drank egg nog!  It’s fun to have both kids together!  Dad and Step Mom joined us on Christmas Eve as well it was indeed a celebratory Christmas Eve feast.  

Christmas for us isn’t all gifts and commercialism if anything we have really worked hard to put a lot less emphasis on gifts and more on us gathering and our get togethers!  

Our Christmas Eve spread included so many goodies I probably can’t remember all of it!

 We had a huge spread for dinner bigger than I had originally planned which included:

 Ham

Deviled Eggs

Shrimp

Buffalo Chicken Dip and Tortilla Chips

Ham Rolls

Tomatoes and Mozzarella

Dessert Tray and Egg Nog

Pickled Asparagus

Then on Christmas morning we woke up spent time as a family but then spent the rest of the day with good friends it was a great time for everyone!  Our friends made us up some amazing Shrimp & Grits he is quite the Chef!  I also received so many clever homemade gifts this holiday season that I will have to do a blog post on all the fabulous gifts we received.

Last night we watched a movie as a family together and I can’t even remember the last time we all did that together!  It wasn’t so much that it was my favorite movie but that we did it together that was most important to me!  I am truly grateful for time spent with family and friends this holiday season and I wish you all the beauty of the season!

I hope whether your holidays were peaceful or not that you got to spend time with some people who are important to you and that you got to eat some holiday goodies!   Wishing you all a beautiful weekend!
