I want to wish all of you a wonderful Independence Day….well at least those of you who live in the USA. I know this will be after the fact since I took time to enjoy the weekend with family and friends. I want to share with all of you that this past holiday weekend was packed full of time with family, fresh blue crabs, watermelon, corn on the cob from a friend and at the end of the day music and fireworks! It doesn’t get much better than that well actually it does because we all polished it off with some strawberry shortcake! YUM!
I have always loved the 4th of July or Independence Day but only recently has it’s signficance hit home with me…which is this is a country where I get to blog, write, and have my own thoughts and opinions about whatever I want to whether everyone agrees with what I have to say or not doesn’t really matter!I recently fell in love with the show “Turn” on AMC first of all because the cast is amazing but also because they have portrayed an entirely different view to me of what may have happened. It’s absolutely crazy to me how our colonists in some cases our Ancestors in America put their lives on the line to win our country for us and those of us that live here enjoy our independence!
We had a fun weekend listening to local music Friday night one of our favorite bands “Massive Grass” with my mom and friends. Saturday morning we were busy picking up the crabs for our 4th of July dinner and it was go, go, go, and a lot of food involved…. maybe too much food but things are slowing down now as we ease back in to our normal daily routine and the holiday festivities are behind us!
My son the lineman came to visit us and that was fun he got to catch up with all of his friends and we are back to an empty nest today. I can tell he is so enjoying his new life and this warmed my heart because he was ready to get back to football work outs. I can see already how fast he is growing up being away from us. Why does it happen faster when they leave? I’m not sure but it does!
This year the fireworks in downtown Wilmington, NC were amazing and a sight to behold!
I wish you all a beautiful week….until next time!
Fondly,
