Hello friends,
This spring has been a whirlwind and I confess I have been all into my school work but while I have been absent from my blog these past two months we have been working on our garden, our home, and making homemade wine. However a lot is changing on the landscape ahead metaphorically and actually; lots going on our little homestead lately. I am so excited to share our latest landscaping feature with all of you our new river walkway. This walkway was inspired by the rivers in the mountains of western North Carolina.
We re-did our dining room and pics our coming soon, we put in a new small shed, and we have re-arranged our front flower bed and I have the most beautiful roses that the Viking transplanted for me.
One of my favorite projects of recent was the river walkway/path that my husband and my son designed and put in for us. We receive so many compliments I just had to share with all of you and I think you will agree with me that it’s pretty unique and spectacular. The stepping stones were not inexpensive and procured at our local stone center but overall for a landscaping project this was quite reasonable. I love it!
Our Landscaping Plan
This was the first of many new projects in our landscaping plan. The shed post is coming next! Oh and the Viking has just finished a new fun backyard project which I can’t wait to share with all of you!
Materials –
Plastic/garden material
gravel
tent stakes
stepping stones
Part 1 – First you have to lay out your borders for this project. The Viking in my life used thick plastic that he had salvaged at the dumpster and cut it into thin strips that were long enough to create an outline for this river walkway. (The weed mat was already laid out under the mulch)
Part 2 – Once you arrange the plastic border the way you want it to look (river like) in our case secure the plastic with tent stakes.
Part 3 – Fill two or three different colored gravels whatever you prefer and fill in the areas with gravel to your liking.
Part 4 – Then arrange the stepping stones on top.
I hope you enjoyed this project as much as we did. I loved it so much I had to share with all of you!
I wish you all a beautiful week…until next time!
Fondly,
